A few weeks ago, I got two turkeys from Teso. However, I have realised that the female is now laying eggs in the bushes near the house. What can I do about it? Sarah Musisi, Mulago
Answer: Turkeys can ably look after their eggs wherever they are, incubate them and hatch them.
Unless they are attacked by predators, they are also fairly good parents.
Moving the eggs to another place may stop the turkey from incubating them.
My advice is, unless the location of the eggs is not secure from predators, like dogs and cats, leave the turkey’s eggs alone.
After hatching, the turkey will bring the chicks to the main shelter.
