Uganda’s milk production has increased by over 193% percent, President Yoweri Museveni has said.
Museveni made the revelations during his State of the Nation Address at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately this sector is where I’m involved. As long as there is peace in Uganda, we will grow the economy,” Museveni said.
Museveni added that milk production increased from 2.8 billion litres in 2020 to 5.5 billion liters in 2021/2022 financial year.
“Export value of milk and its products increased from $98m (about shillings 365 billion) in 2021 to $103m (about shillings 384 billion) in 2022,” Museveni said as he attributed the increase to compliance by the private sector with the quality standards and regulations.
