Thugs have raided Nyaravur Farmers’ Savings and Credit Co-operative Organisation (SACCO) office in Nebbi district and made off with sh20 m.
The incident occurred on Sunday night in Nyaravur trading centre cell, Mbaro East ward in Nyaravur sub-county.
West Nile region Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia said in a statement that the thugs accessed SACCO office by cutting the chain link fence from the back of the office.
She added that the two guards belonging to Tiger Security Company who were manning the SACCO office were chloroformed and were later taken to St Luke Angal Hospital for treatment.
According to Angucia, SACCO compliance manager Kingdom Munguyiko reported the incident to Nyaravur Police Station on Sunday morning.
She added that one of the suspects, who is detained at Nyaravur Police Station, was arrested after a sniffer dog led the Police detectives to his house.
“Upon receiving information, the Police acted by registering a case of aggravated robbery, visited and documented the scene of crime. Police introduced the canine services to the scene that led to the arrest of one suspect,” Angucia said.
She added that statements were taken from the relevant witnesses and issued Police Form 3 to the two guards for medical examination.
