The northern part of Uganda should expect moderate to light rainfall in the week starting August 01, 2023 and ending on August 08, 2023, according to ICPAC.
ICPAC is the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre. IGAD in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development. ICPAC is a Climate Centre accredited by the World Meteorological Organisation that provides climate services to 11 East African countries. The services offered by ICPAC aim at creating resilience in a region deeply affected by climate change and extreme weather.
“Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over southern Sudan, much of South Sudan, isolated areas in western Eritrea, western and northern Ethiopia, northern Uganda, and isolated areas in western Kenya,” stated ICPAC.
The report adds, “Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over central and eastern Sudan, south-eastern South Sudan, parts of central and eastern Ethiopia, part of western Eritrea, central to southern Somalia, Djibouti, eastern and southern Tanzania, coastal and western Kenya, and central to northern Uganda.”
ICPAC also highlights drier than usual conditions expected over northern Ethiopia, western Eritrea, isolated areas in South Sudan, southern and central Sudan, western Kenya, and central to northern Uganda.
Rainfall anomalies
ICPAC states that wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of parts of northern Uganda.
The central parts of Uganda should expect drier than usual conditions, according to ICPAC.
Temperature
Uganda is also among the countries that should expect moderate to high temperatures (20 – 32℃) expected over central to northern Uganda.
“Moderate to high temperatures (20 – 32℃) expected over South Sudan, central to southern Sudan, eastern and northern Kenya, north-western and eastern Tanzania, Somalia, south-eastern Ethiopia, and central to northern Uganda,” stated the forecast.
