Earning from a guava tree in your compound can be quite profitable with the right approach.

You can sell fresh guava fruit to local markets, roadside stands, or even directly to neighbours.

Guava is highly nutritious and in demand, especially if you grow organic ones, these can fetch higher prices.

Rose Iga, a farmer says one can add value to guavas by making products like guava juice, jams, jellies, or dried guava slices. These processed products often sell for much more than raw fruits.

She says you can propagate guava plants from seeds or cuttings and sell seedlings to other farmers or individuals interested in starting growing guava. This is a simple way to generate additional income.

She also says guava leaves have medicinal properties and are often used in teas, skincare products, and traditional remedies. You can sell dried or fresh leaves to herbal shops or individuals who use them for health purposes.

“Some industries, particularly juice companies, buy guava pulp in bulk. You can sell the pulp after extracting it, which requires minimal processing and can be a good source of income if you have access to nearby processing units or companies,” she explains.

By diversifying how you use the tree, you can maximise your earnings even with limited space in your compound.
