For starters, the numbers in the house must be comfortable. This is why overcrowding should be out of the question.
Mature broilers should occupy at least 2by2 feet per bird, while layers require 2by3feet per bird.
The spacing is also affected by the given temperature of the house. If the house is hot, then you give them more space to have enough air. If you can afford it, you can even use fans to make it cooler.
