It is common practice for farmers in Uganda to wait for the customers to find them. This is not right because a seller who makes his products known to the buyers has more chances of selling them off than one who sells behind closed doors.
During the Christmas season, the number of buyers goes much higher, but then the number of suppliers also rises.
This means that as a good farmer, you also need good marketing strategies to sell your product. It is about a few weeks to the day and, therefore, it is not too early to start telling the market about your product. There are several ways to do this.
- Put an advert in the papers or other media telling the market that your product will be ready by a specific date or there about. It can read, 1,000 broilers or 100 turkeys, or bananas or any product will be on sale on December 20.
- You can walk down to the nearest market and tell the dealers there that you will have the product that they are dealing in around Christmas time.
