Every parish across the country is set to benefit from the agroprocessing plant and a tractor under Parish Development Model (PDM), national programme co-ordinator Denis Ssozi Galabuzi has said.
Galabuzi’s remarks during the launch of Parish Revolving Fund (PRF) in Arua district on Friday, followed a concern raised by Arua district chairperson Alfred Okuonzi concerning the agricultural production levels, especially, that of cassava, which are expected to increase after the disbursement of the funds.
Okuonzi said the only way the beneficiary community in the district can alleviate household poverty is by adding value to their crops, especially cassava.
Galabuzi in response said, there is need for value addition after bulk production which will help to benefit the farmers financially.
He added that, there is an ongoing programme at the agriculture ministry to distribute tractors in every parish implementing PDM.
Last week, the disbursement of PRF was launched in the various districts of West Nile: Arua, Maracha, Koboko, Terego, Madi-Okollo, Zombo, Nebbi and Nebbi Municipality among others under PDM.
