Dr. Emmanuel Zziwa, the assistant team leader for climate change resilience at the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations has said the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) are all hinged on climate change.
“Whatever we do, we should hide away from the blame game but adapt to technologies to lessen climate change. We have to continue being conscious about climate change so that whatever we adapt can make us survive.
“What you do today does not necessarily mean you will benefit from it immediately,” Dr. Zziwa said.
He made the remarks Wednesday at the opening of the Green Schools training workshop at Kololo Secondary School in Kampala.
The Green Schools Initiative is a partnership between New Vision and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations with financing from the Swedish Embassy.
It is a 15-month project to highlight the impact of climate change and showcase best climate change practices in schools across the country.
The project is expected to directly impact an estimated 90,600 learners and teachers in selected 150 secondary schools across the country.
