Cabinet has approved the creation of a new authority under the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries to regulate food, veterinary medicine, vaccines, agro chemicals and all the other therapeutic products for plant and animal health.
This is one of the cabinet decisions that was revealed to the press on Tuesday, by the Minister of state for ICT and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi.
With the Authority called “the Food Animal and Plant Health Authority” in place, the Uganda National bureau of standards will regulate all other products apart from those regulated by the National Drug Authority and those by the new authority.
He also revealed that cabinet has approved a new board for the National Animal Genetics Resources Center and Data Bank, chaired by Ban Amanya, with Ben Ssenkeera,Eng, Eng, Eng, Eng, Eng Robert Ssenozi Wajja, Eng Epel Anthony Raymond, Dr Herman Ssekiwunga,Dr Samuel Kanakulya Lubinga and Teddy Alako among others
