Agriculture Ministry Moves To Ease Market Access For Farmers

The transportation of farm produce to the market or collection centres remains a big challenge for farmers in the agriculture value chain. Although farmers produce in bulk, their produce ends up fetching less as middlemen buy them off cheaply at the farm gate. According to the agriculture ministry, improving road infrastructure is a key component in the agriculture and production value chain.

Under the Agricultural Cluster Development Project, which is being funded by the World Bank, the agricultural ministry has embarked on construction and upgrade of farm access community roads in Kamwenge district.
