How many pigs should I start with?

For commercial viability, five pigs including five sows and one boar is a good number to start with. These should help you understand the trade before expanding. 

If you start with the five, you will have at least 40 more pigs at the end of the year after they deliver. Obviously, you may sell some, retain the best and use them to multiply further. 

However, for heavy investors, any number can do since they have the financial ability to support it.
