The trees you are planting will feed you in (5) five years from this day.

Therefore, make it a habit to plant a fruit tree in your compound. This will not only provide your home with shade and fruits but also preserve the environment.

Okotha urged the youths to think and plan for their retirement projects early enough so that they just enjoy that money indirectly rather than becoming dependent on relatives and friends.

This was during the Rotaract Club of Bweyogerere Namboole’s vocational tour to the Cinamon & Rosemary farm in Nakifuma in Mukono district to commemorate the Rotary Vocational Month.

Okotha’s enterprises cover 25 acres located in the villages of Nanga near Nakifuma and Nabiyagi near Kabembe in Mukono district respectively.

It has 50,000 Cinnamon, 70,000 soursops, 2,000 guavas, and 5,000 cocoa seedlings that are ready for planting.

“The seedlings cost between sh 3,000- shs5,000 respectively depending on the size available,” he said.

During the visit, each member was given four seedlings of cinnamon and soursop plus two pieces of cocoa.

Counsel Elizabeth Nabukera, the Club Vocation service director said that planting fruit trees helps provide farmers and communities with an added source of income and nutrition, helping food security and livelihoods.

“This also forms an important part of our comprehensive reforestation strategy, along with planting other types of trees, such as for Agro-forestry and land regeneration”.
