The fruits and benefits for both exhibitors and visitors to the Harvest Money Expo are quite big.
There are many previous exhibitors who came, saw the huge opportunities, grabbed them and used these to enhance their businesses. There are hundreds of exhibitors whose sales sky-rocketed thanks to an appearance at the expo.
We have hundreds of people who earlier visited the expo and are now big commercial farmers. So, don’t miss the 2024 expo. This year, we will still be at Kololo Independence Grounds on February 23-25.
The theme is, as usual, Farming as a Commercial Business. The sub-theme has suitably emphasised post-harvest handling and innovations. Farmers in Uganda lose over 40% of their produce due to poor post-harvest handling.
If a farmer produces 1,000kg of cereals or pulses per acre, he loses 400kg on the farm. This is quite huge because the profit margin on cereals is so low. Losses are also suffered in bananas, milk and generally in livestock.
We will have many exhibitors offering solutions to these challenges. Innovations cut across both livestock, farm machinery and crops. Better genetics, simple but effective machinery, feeding solutions and fast-growing seeds.
