Uganda is to take advantage of the Africa Dairy Conference and Exhibition, that takes place in Uganda in September this year, to secure markets for its dairy products. It takes place from 11 to 15 September at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
This was revealed by the minister of state for Agriculture in charge of Animal Industry, Bright Rwamirama on Tuesday at the Media Center in Kampala. According to Rwamirama, the conference will attract over 400 dairy sector players, from different parts of the world.
He explained that the African Dairy Conference and Exhibition is the largest African dairy event organized by the Eastern and Southern African Dairy association (ESADA).
“It’s a platform for us to showcase our products, create new markets and orient consumers to our innovative products in the dairy sector,” explained Rwamirama.
He added that the conference will highlight opportunities for dairy sector investment in Africa with a focus on the host country, provide a platform for the African and global dairy community to discuss and recommend solutions to policy, regulatory and industry bottlenecks that impede trade in dairy products among others.
At the end of the conference, Uganda will identify trade opportunities, technology transfer because in the past it has been a challenge for the African Dairy Industry to access new technologies that can reduce cost of milk production and Knowledge Sharing.
