Vice-President Jessica Alupo has implored leaders in Mayuge district to visit the Presidential farm at Kityerera in Mayuge and get trained in modern farming technologies.
Alupo says once leaders are trained, they will be able to replicate various enterprises at the presidential farm, in their homes.
She has also asked them to encourage residents in their communities to grow food for commercial purposes, get profits and be transformed.
Alupo says President Yoweri Museveni is a good example to the people of Kityerera and the surrounding areas in regard to the farm he established in the area.
Alupo, who arrived at the Presidential farm in Kityerera at noon today, was welcomed by the Third Deputy Prime Minister Rukia Isanga Nakadama, who was accompanied by Mayuge district LC5 chairperson Bishop Frank Tibagendeka, among other leaders.
Alupo, who was led on a tour by farm supervisor Ronald Katwebaze, visited the mushroom enterprise, dairy cattle project, mango orchard and banana plantation.
While at the farm, Mpungwe LC3 chairperson Hamis Magumba, who is also the leader of LC3 chairpersons in Mayuge, requested the Government to avail loans to fishermen in the Islands to be able to buy genuine fishing gear since most of them on market are substandard and expensive.
Magumba further requested that as LC3 chairpersons in Mayuge, they would love to meet President Museveni and tell him some of their challenges.
In response, Alupo promised to table their requests before President Yoweri Museveni when she meets him.
Nakadama later hosted Alupo at Bukoba parish in Bugade town council where she joined Catholics at a fundraising drive for the completion of a multimillion Bukoba Parish church.
The Jinja Catholic Diocese Bishop Charles Wamika was the main celebrant of the Mass.
Several Members of Parliament, local leaders, religious and opinion leaders graced the occasion.
