Monday Starter: Passion Fruit Lemonade
I have always been sharing a number of food recipes, but I do not recall sharing one of juice. Anyway, in case you happen to crave lemonade you can always fix yourself that sweet-tart and refreshing drink and save yourself the trouble of walking to a restaurant to order for one. What I have for you today is the passion fruit lemonade.
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup water
I cup fresh lemon juice (about 5 lemons)
¾ cup fresh passion fruit (about 8 passion fruits)
4-5 cups cold water
¾ -1 cup simple syrup
Prepare the simple syrup by adding the granulated sugar, lemon peels and water together in a small saucepan. Heat on medium high just until the sugar dissolves. Set aside to cool down.
While you wait for the lemon sugar syrup to cool down, chop the lemons discarding the seeds and blend them together with the passion fruits.
Strain the syrup using a sieve and add it to the blended fruit pure.
Strain the fruit pure to get rid of any seeds or anything else you may not need in your juice.
Add some water to your juice as desired to reach your preferred level of sweetness and tartness.
Chill until ready to serve.
