As the world advances with technology, online trading is growing day by day and today the traders in Soroti main market have joined that revolution.
With the modern state of the art market located in the heart of Soroti city, the installation of free internet by the government will now facilitate online trading easily.
The installation was done by the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) which is mandated to monitor information and technology development within the context of national social-economic development.
Dr. Hatwib Mugasa the director NITA said the move is aimed at ensuring that traders are not left behind in development.
“The internet is free to all the traders to facilitate you and engage customers online because this is a dot-com world, Dr. Mugasa said.
Besides internet, NITA also connected the market with security cameras for ensuring that the safety of traders is assured.
The minister of state for works Musa Ecweru launched the internet and security cameras in the market this morning.
Ecweru who was representing the vice president Jessica Alupo noted that traders could now improve their livelihoods as the number of customers will expand due to online trading.
“With security cameras in place and internet, the sky is the limit for you to do business here. Government values your contribution towards the development of our nation,” Ecweru said.
The traders welcomed the initiative and applauded the government for thinking about them.
“We shall utilise the internet for business,” said William Iriebat the chairman of market vendors.
Ecweru toured the market and hailed the vendors for keeping the market clean.
