27 Training Sessions

The expo There are 27 training sessions that will be held during the expo are targeted at improving value addition, post-harvest handling, innovation and crop marketing for farmers.  

Some of the new sessions include urban bee-keeping, management of milk goats, selection of good dairy and beef cattle, a training session by secondary School students under the Gayaza Farm Camp etc. This will be handled by students from Gayaza High and Iganga SSS.

The training sessions have been organised to be more practical than previous ones. For example, the session on goat keeping will include a part on value addition to goats milk, the session on growing ‘insects’ for commercial purposes will have a practical demonstration with actual insects, management of indigenous poultry, such as citrus like oranges and beef cattle. Others sessions include goats, cattle, piggery, poultry and fish farming, horticulture and urban farming.

There will be training on bee-keeping in an urban centre, plus sessions for students, trees including hass avocado and macadamia.

The 2024 expo has attracted exhibitors from the Netherlands, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Egypt among others. On average at least 250 exhibitors from all key agriculture sectors attend each year. Over 30,000 show goers are expected to tour stalls this year.
