The 2020 best farmer winners have been advised to lead the mantle to the next level of agricultural modernization, that will propel the country to middle-income status.
During a two-day pre-travel preparation training for the 2020 best farmers, Sam Iga Zinunula, a small and medium business consultant tasked the winners to become the stepping stone to the transformation of agriculture in Uganda.
The training started on Tuesday, September 5 and ended on Friday, September 8.
The best farmer’s competition is organized by Vision Group with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands, KLM Airlines, dfcu Bank and Koudjis Nutrition BV.
Thirteen winners will set off to the Netherlands on October 7 for a week’s visit where they will learn about technologies, breeds, and markets and also create opportunities, companies, knowledge institutions, processors, and technology developers among others.
Phillip Kalera of Next Generation Farm in Gomba who was the overall winner will travel with 12 other winners including;

The group had their travel delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
